We are thrilled to announce a significant addition to our Nest Community Shelter family. Eric Williams, Michigan City’s Assistant Events Planner, has joined our Board of Directors, bringing with him a wealth of experience in event planning and community engagement.

As La Porte County’s only emergency homeless shelter, Nest Community Shelter has been dedicated to providing shelter and support services to individuals experiencing homelessness. With Eric Williams on board, we’re excited about the new perspectives and expertise he will bring to our fundraising efforts and public outreach initiatives.

Williams’ background in coordinating large-scale city events gives him a unique insight into community mobilization and resource allocation. This expertise will be invaluable as we continue to grow and expand our services to those in need.

Harrison Holtkamp, our Executive Director, shared his enthusiasm about our new board member: “William’s expertise in event coordination and his deep connections within our community will be invaluable as we work to raise awareness and support for our cause. We’re thrilled to have him on our team.”

Williams himself expressed his motivation for joining our board: “My interest in joining the Board of Directors for Nest Community Shelter comes from my desire to create a positive and meaningful impact in my community. I first learned of Nest through my involvement in Leadership LaPorte County and was inspired by the compassion that this organization shows to those in need. When the opportunity came to join the Board, it seemed like a great fit.”

He further added, “Nest Community Shelter is a true asset to our community. Not only does Nest provide shelter and resources to those in need but makes an effort to educate the community on the various causes of homelessness and how we can help. I’m humbled and excited to be involved with this amazing organization, and I look forward to contributing in any way that I can.”

Williams officially began his term on the Board of Directors on July 15th, joining a diverse group of community leaders committed to addressing homelessness and providing support to vulnerable populations in Michigan City.
