Dear Michigan City Area Businesses,

Michigan City is a beautiful community that many businesses and organizations are proud to call home. Many reading this open letter not only live in this community but choose to work and build businesses in this diverse area. Our community is experiencing incredible economic development as those near and far discover what a gem our area is. We are proud to call Michigan City and La Porte County home as dedicated partner in the betterment of our community.

At Nest Community Shelter, we welcome men, women, and women with children, and we are La Porte County’s only emergency shelter. Through dignity, determination, and dedication, we actively work to bring homeless individuals off the streets of our community and support their rehabilitation journey to permanent housing. Our success rate of housing individuals who are experiencing homelessness is well above the national average, with 40% of all guests who come through our doors in the past four years having been helped into housing. Furthermore, Nest provides continued guidance and support to individuals after they graduate from our program to ensure that they do not become homeless once again on the streets of our community.

This work is tireless and requires ongoing support from our community. Nest Community Shelter is a volunteer-based organization that relies on grants and fundraising to operate. We need community support and corporate sponsorship, and this is why we are reaching out today. Our need is urgent.

Your support not only directly funds our shelter and the betterment of our community but also demonstrates your organization’s commitment to community partnership. We have many ways to give, whether it is a one-time gift that can be given here or becoming a separate sponsor of Nest Community Shelter. When you become a corporate sponsor of our shelter, we ensure that your organization is recognized and celebrated for your partnership. You can learn more about our sponsorship packages here.

We thank you for your partnership in ensuring our community serves the needs of all of our neighbors.

In Gratitude,
Harrison Holtkamp
