Nest Community Shelter Welcomes Three New Board Members to the 2024 Board of Directors
Jackie Dermody, CEO of Family Advocates, Kathleen Kelly, Former CEO of The Share Foundation, and Kristy Hahn, Community Volunteer Bring Their Expertise to Nest Community Shelter’s Board
MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA. January 14, 2023—Nest Community Shelter is pleased to announce the addition of three distinguished individuals to its esteemed Board of Directors for the year 2024. These new members bring a wealth of experience and expertise in the nonprofit and community service sectors, further enhancing the board’s capabilities in its mission to provide support and assistance to unhoused individuals in the community.
Joining the Board of Directors are Jackie Dermody, Kathleen Kelly and Kristy Hahn. Their dedication to philanthropy and their notable accomplishments in nonprofit industry make them valuable assets to our organization.
Jackie Dermody comes to Nest from LaPorte Family Advocates Inc, leading that agency as their CEO. Her experience and guidance at LaPorte Family Advocates have been most visible in developing effective resources for the financial health and growth of the organization. Ms. Dermody’s expertise in leadership and relationship building will undoubtedly contribute to the strategic development and growth of Nest Community Shelter’s mission to the community.
Kathleen Kelly brings a remarkable track record of professional experience in nonprofit sector, demonstrating a commitment to community service and social responsibility. Her proficiency in fundraising, and charitable event management aligns seamlessly with the goals and objectives of Nest Community Shelter.
Kristy Hahn joins the Nest Community Shelter board of directors after being a dedicated volunteer at Nest Community Shelter and an advocate for the unhoused in our area. Kristy also sits on the Deserving Children’s Roof Sit, New Prairie Little League, Leadership of LaPorte County boards. She is also the Volunteer Coordinator at Northwest Health.
These new members will be joining the current board, which consists of nine board members, two board advisors and the Executive Director Harrison Holtkamp. The entire Board of Directors, along with the staff and volunteers, looks forward to benefiting from the insights and contributions that the new board members will bring to the table.
